Lenazelle "Lena" York Brooks, 86, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016, in Acworth. Her funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, October 29, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Dr. Danny Ray officiating. Mrs. Brooks will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, October 28, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Born July 9, 1930 in Marion County, Alabama, Mrs. Brooks was the daughter of the late Thomas H. York and Rosa Ford York. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Frank Blevins; and two brothers, James H. York and Thomas A. York. She was retired from the insurance business and a member of New River Baptist Church in Tifton. She loved to cook and to read.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by her husband, Ferrell K. Brooks of Tifton; one son, David F. Brooks of Acworth; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Audrey and Bill Segers, Kathy and Dennis Whitten and Kim Blevins, all of Acworth, Debbie Kerr of Magnolia, Texas and Angie and Jimmy Payne of Monroe; one brother, Leonard D. York of Rebecca; five grandchildren, Buck, Brooke, Amanda, Hunter and Danielle; and five great-grandchildren, Drew, Stone, Alison, Noah and Wesley.
