Douglas P. Walsh, 52, of New Bedford passed away unexpectedly on Sunday October 16, 2016. He was the husband of the late Lee Ann (Smith) Walsh, and son of Ronald and Madeline (Tremblay) Walsh, and father of Shannon Walsh, all of New Bedford. He is survived by his sisters, Kelly Barley of Mattapoisett and Erin Hroch of Albuquerque, New Mexico, as well as his maternal grandmother Mrs. Gertrude (Caron) Tremblay of New Bedford. He also leaves his nephews, Devon, Connor, and Liam Barley, and Spencer Hroch, his niece, Sofia Hroch, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Doug graduated from New Bedford High School with the Class of 1982. He continued his education and graduated from Sylvania Technical Institute, now Wentworth Institute. He was employed as a network administrator/supervisor technician for the New Bedford School Department.
Doug will be remembered for his wit and especially for the many harmless pranks he loved to pull on his family and friends. He was an avid collector of antique items and especially toys from his childhood era. He loved the outdoors, spending a great deal of time with his dog, Tuco. He was a funny likeable person who will be greatly missed by his many friends.
His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday October 29, 2016 at 10 AM at St. Joseph-St. Therese Church. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Joseph-St. Therese Church, 51 Duncan St., New Bedford, MA 02745.
