Forest L. Hobbs, age 83 of Mansfield, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.
Born in Wayland. Kentucky on February 11, 1933, he was a loving son of the late Frank and Marjorie (Henderson) Hobbs.
Forest grew up was educated in Wayland, Kentucky. Prior to retiring, he was a successful self-employed owner of three fencing companies and retired as the president of the Mark L Fencing Co. in Columbus, Ohio.
Mr. Hobbs had resided in Mansfield for the past 14 years and previously made his home in Columbus, Ohio.
Since living in Mansfield, Forest became an active member of the Mansfield Council on Aging where he especially enjoyed playing cribbage. He was also a member of Saint James Masonic Lodge and while living in Columbus was a Masonic Brother and a former Worshipful Master.
Forest had a deep faith in Christian Religion. His hobbies included fishing, tending to his beautiful vegetable gardens and being a loyal Boston Red Sox fan. More than anything else, his love for family was overwhelming.
He is survived by his devoted children Robert L. Hobbs of Florida, Joyce A. Rego and her husband John of Raynham, Cynthia L. Hobbs-Barrett and her husband Michael Barrett of Mansfield and Barbara E. Hobbs of Raynham. He was the dear brother of Charles Hobbs, James Hobbs, Frank Hobbs, Everett Hobbs, Toni-Jean Edison, and was predeceased by six siblings. He is also survived by his adoring eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his lady friend Donna O’Leary of Mansfield.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to his funeral service with a masonic ritual on Saturday ,October 29th at 11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday morning prior to the services from 9:00-11:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
