SPRINGFIELD – Laurent B. “Larry” Vadnais, 67, of the Indian Orchard of section in Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, October 23, 2016. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by all the memories that he loved and cherished. He was born in Springfield on March 16, 1949, a beloved son of Dorothy A. (Linnehan) Vadnais of Ludlow and the late Alfred E. Vadnais who was Called Home on June 9, 1987. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from Precious Blood High School in Holyoke and attended Assumption College in Worcester. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was self-employed as a construction tradesman for many years. He was a member of the Oregon Sportmen’s Club in Chicopee and enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time at the ocean. Above all, he loved all of his family and friends. In addition to his beloved mother, he leaves his loving longtime companion, Margaret “Peg” Skelley; his two dear daughters, Melissa E. Paradis of Ashford, CT and Jessica C. Kincheloe and her husband, Zackary, of Harrah, OK; his six dear grandchildren; his seven “stubborn affectionate” and loving brothers, Ernest M. Vadnais of Wales, Andre J. Vadnais and his wife, Pamela, of Ludlow, Normand J. Vadnais and his companion, Tami, of Port Richey, FL, John Paul Vadnais of West Springfield, Rene D. Vadnais and his wife, Denise, of Martinez, GA, Ronald J. Vadnais and his wife, Patricia, of Sunset, UT and Patrick F. Vadnais and his wife, Karen, of Ellicott City, MD; and his many cherished nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Vadnais and Linnehan families. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday morning, November 2, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. which will be followed by an 11:30 a.m. Christian Farewell Service at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107. His Committal Service with United States Marines Corps Honors will follow the service at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
