James "Jim" Fritchy - July 9, 1954 to October 22, 2016
METHUEN, MA - Jim Fritchy died peacefully at his home after enduring numerous health issues. Born in Methuen, Jim lived in Lawrence and moved to Methuen as a child, eventually marrying the girl next door. A proud Teamster, Jim held a variety of jobs to support his family, but spent most of his work life bringing cheers to the good people of eastern Massachusetts as a beverages-for-grown-ups distributor at Merrimack Valley and Capital distributing companies.
Known as much for his jokes as for his generosity, Jim was a fan of the three B's: Beatles, Blues and Buffets. When the Patriots or Red Sox weren't on TV, Jim channel-surfed between shows about cooking and fishing, travel and trivia, westerns and werewolves, and the chuckleheads of reality television. He loved his family, his home, and his country, and was grateful to have been privileged with all three.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Kathleen (Curley). Jim is survived by his rockstar wife of 41 years, Carolyn (Goddard), and their kiddos: Lorre Fritchy, spouse Gayle Green and their son Camden, of Lawrence; and Amy Christensen, fiancé John Snow and daughter Tori, of Hobe Sound FL. Jim is also survived by brothers Edward, Albert, Mark, and Timothy, as well as countless family, cousins and friends who remember his wit and willingness to lend a hand.
Calling hours will be held at Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen, on Sunday, October 30, 2-6pm. A Memorial Service will be held at 10am, October 31st, at North Parish of North Andover, 190 Academy Road, North Andover. Private Burial will follow. The family sincerely requests you do *not* send plants and flowers but instead, treat your kids or grandkids, or make a charitable donation in Jim's name to the Disabled Veterans of America (dav.org) or to the WoundedWarriorProject.org.
