WORCESTER-Edward P. Roche, 92, of Worcester passed away Monday, October 24 at home surrounded by his sons.
His wife, Mary T. (Sullivan) Roche passed away in 1996. He leaves three sons, Matthew F. and his wife Tia (Ferguson) Roche and their sons, Connor and Garrett of Winter Haven, FL, Edward H. Roche of Worcester and David J. Roche and his son, Marc of Worcester; a sister-in-law, Rita A. Hassett of Worcester and several nieces and nephews. A brother, Donald Roche predeceased him. He was born in Fitchburg, son of Daniel J. and Belle (Harding) Roche and graduated from St. John’s High School and attended Worcester State College and Worcester Junior College. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII.
Edward was a letter carrier for the United States Post Office for many years, retiring in 1989. In his retirement he worked part-time for Fay Brothers and O’Connor Brothers Funeral Homes. He was a member of St. Peter’s-St. Andrew the Apostle Church, the Disabled American Veterans, the Main South Post #341 and the Alhambra Knights of Columbus Council #88.
The Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 27 at 10AM in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will be private in St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Fitchburg. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Food Pantry, 44 Temple St., Worcester, 01604.
