Bernadette A. Gillis, of Milton, passed away after a brief and courageous battle with cancer on Friday, October 21, 2016. Born in Boston, and a resident of Milton for most of her life, Bernadette was a graduate of Milton High School, class of 1990. She was a longtime advocate of the handicapped and an employee of the Boston Center for Independent Living, a former member of the Springboard Social Group, as well an avid sports fan. The beloved daughter of Kathleen M. Gillis (Langdon) of Milton and the late John A. Gillis, she was the devoted sister of John Gillis & his wife Sylvia of Lodz, Poland, loving aunt of Ada Maria Gillis of Poland and dear niece of Barbara Langdon of Newport, FL, Julie DiChiappari of Burlington, Charles Gibbons of Saugus and Joseph Gibbons of Beverly. Friends and family are invited to a Funeral Luncheon at Spinelli’s Function Facility, Route 1, Lynnfield, MA on Wed. Nov. 2nd from 12 to 2 PM. (Wheelchair accessible) Funeral Services & interment private. Donations may be made in her memory to Springboard and the Boston Center for Independent Living.
