David Michael Keefe, 80, passed away on Sunday, October 23rd after many years of declining health with dementia. He was one of seven children of Michael H. and Elsie A. (Place) Keefe and lived his entire life in Worcester. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Mary T. (Dee) Keefe; a sister, Judith A. wife of Irving B. Barrows; a brother, Gary W. Keefe all of Paxton; a sister in law, Ellen M. (Dee) Shepherd of North Grafton; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by four siblings, Nana E. Bisson, Robert E. Keefe, James J. Keefe and Joan M. Knapp.
Mr. Keefe was employed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and worked at the Department of Youth Services, Westborough and Criminal Justice Training Center, Southborough for 32 years. Dave had also worked part-time for several area funeral homes for 45 years. He was proud of his Irish Heritage. David loved the ocean, walking the beach and Marginal Way in Ogunquit, ME. He also enjoyed music and the New England Sports teams.
Mary would like to thank the staff at Tatnuck Park Assisted Living for 2 ½ years of care and compassion and Compassus Hospice for the exemplary care given especially by Tracy and Maria.
His funeral is Tuesday, November 1st with a service at 11:00 AM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
