Geraldine Sumner Pritchett Stephens, 83, of Ty Ty passed away Monday, October 24, 2016, at her residence. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at Ty Ty First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rodney Owens, the Rev. Justin Devereaux and the Rev. Shirley Strawter officiating. Mrs. Stephens will be laid to rest at Ty Ty First Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 25, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Stephens will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Stephens’ grandsons and two nephews will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons and former deacons of Ty Ty First Baptist Church.
Born November 7, 1932 in Chula, Mrs. Stephens was the daughter of the late Chesley W. Sumner and Willie Mae LeSueur Sumner. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Grafton Lee Pritchett, to whom she was married from 1950-1957; and a sister, Faye Sumner Sikes. She graduated from Tifton High School and Norman Park College. She was a homemaker and member of Ty Ty First Baptist Church. She loved to take care of her home immaculately and loved her husband and family dearly.
Mrs. Stephens is survived by her husband of 53 years, Harold Lamar Stephens of Ty Ty; two sons, Thomas Carroll Pritchett of Ashville, North Carolina and Steven Lee Pritchett and wife Le Ann of Tifton; one daughter, Gloria Pritchett Truelove and husband Bryan of Tifton; one sister, Audrey Sumner Crownover of Ty Ty; nine grandchildren, Thomas C. Pritchett Jr., Jesse Sumner Pritchett, Maureen Ann Pritchett, Jennifer Kendrick Zimmerman, Lindsay Kendrick Prater, Jeremy Ches Kendrick, Kevin Rhett Pritchett, Lauren Alisabeth Pritchett and Steph63.9en Marc Pritchett; four great-grandchildren, Thomas C. Pritchett III, Analee Davis Pritchett, David Michael Zimmerman and Tyler Mark Prater; and special friends, Linda Clements and Mary Jo Gibbs.
