FALL RIVER…Veronica F. (Baj) Urban, 95, of Fall River passed away peacefully Oct. 23, 2016 at Charlton Memorial Hospital.
She was the beloved wife of the late Henry P. Urban, Sr.
Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Chrupcala) Baj and was a lifelong resident of Fall River.
Mrs. Urban was a 1938 Graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and of the former Thibodeau Business School Evening Program. She was employed for 12 years by the former Skelly Detective Service and for 29 years as Plant Secretary and in the Purchasing Department by the former Sarama Lighting Co. (Artcraft) in Fall River. She was a communicant of the former St. Patrick’s Church (currently Good Shepherd Parish) in Fall River where she was a member of the Women’s Guild, Eucharistic Minister, parish council member, and Bingo volunteer. She was president of the Four Seasons Senior Club, on the Board of Directors of the Senior Senate, member of St. Stanislaus Seniors, and supervisor of the Slade Street of the Fall River Community Soup Kitchen where she was also on the Board of Directors.
Survivors include her son, Henry P. Urban, Jr and his wife Lillian (Costa) of Fall River, two daughters, Mary Ann Urban and her husband James Philip of Brighton, MA and Julie V. Urban of Phoenix, AZ, granddaughters, Rebecca G. Urban of Phoenix, AZ and Jennifer Lee Urban of Providence, RI, several nieces and nephews. She was sister of the late Charles T. Baj, Josephine M. (Baj) Bailey, Lucy (Baj) Los, and Mary H. Baj.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Kimwell Nursing Home, Charlton Atwood Palliative Care and the many close friends and neighbors, especially Mr. Mello, for the wonderful care they have provided.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM from the Boyko Memorial Funeral Home, 709 Broadway Fall River followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at Good Shepherd Parish, 1598 South Main St, Fall River, MA 02724. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 8 – 9:30 AM, prior to the funeral.
