George W. Gilman 77, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016 in Flaglers Hospital, St. Augustine, FL. He was the loving husband of Carol (Deyoung) Gilman. He was born in Woonsocket, the son of the late Gifford and Aurore (Blanchard) Gilman. He was a maintenance man for Diversified Distributors in Woonsocket for many years retiring in 2005. Mr. Gilman was a member of the Cercle Laurier, the Par –X Club, and the Woonsocket Lodge of Elks. He enjoyed cooking and spending time with family, performing magic tricks for his grandchildren, and singing karaoke.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, William Gilman Sr and his wife Rachel of Woonsocket, two daughters; Deborah Mailloux and her husband David of Cumberland, and Denise Vasques of Woonsocket. He is also survived by six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a sister, Grace Kowal of RI. He was also the brother of the late Shirley Maynard.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visitation will be Tuesday 5-7 PM.
