Joseph Amaral, 84, of Acushnet passed away Friday October 21, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of Beatrice M. (Martin) Amaral.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late John and Edwina (Amaral) Amaral, he lived in Fairhaven and Acushnet for many years.
He was a communicant of St. John Neumann Church.
Mr. Amaral was formerly employed by Frionor Seafood until his retirement.
He was a former President of the Fairhaven Little League.
Survivors include wife; two sons, Stephen J. Amaral and his wife Peggy of California and David J. Amaral and his wife Judith of New Bedford; his siblings, Mary Sylvia of Dartmouth, Edwin Amaral and Ellen Pimental, both of Wareham; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A private family memorial service will be held. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
