Joseph Saint Gilus Belizaire of Somerville died on Wednesday, October 19, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Boston. Born and raised in Port Margot, Haiti, he was the son of the late Saint Jules and Lumina (Nivos) Belizaire. Joseph came to the United States 32 years ago and settled in Somerville.
He was the beloved husband of Claritida (Fedelus) Belizaire and the devoted father of Joel Belizaire and his wife Laurene of Haiti, Samuel Belizaire and his wife Monique of Canada, Henoch Belizaire and his wife Fabian of Brockton, Nicole Sammarco and her husband David of Arlington, Armstrong Belizaire and his wife Nadia of Lawrence, and Rachelle Belizaire of Burlington. Joseph was the loving grandfather of Vanessa Bellan, Joanne, Emanuel, Christa, Lawrence, Samuel Jr., Samantha, Samlyn, Samarthalie, Einstein, Jonathan, Sarah, Elizabeth, Mark, Benjamin, Armstride, Armstrong Jr., Joshua, Benjamin, and Abby Belazaire. He was the brother of Meprilia, Jean, Innocent, Peter, Barila, and the late Louise.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Saturday, October 29 at 8 AM followed by a service in the Evangelical Haitian Church of Somerville, 400 High St., Medford at 9:30 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday, October 28, from 5 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at St. Michael Cemetery, Boston.
