A. W. “Broken Bow” Wilson, 80, of Tifton passed away Friday, October 21, 2016, at his residence. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. David Williams officiating. Family members will offer eulogies. Mr. Wilson will be laid to rest at Pineview Holiness Baptist Church in Tifton. The family will receive friends Monday, October 24, 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Wilson’s grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Joshua Wilson, Caleb Wilson, Jody Powell, David Sutton, Abe Switzer and Joseph Powell will serve as pallbearers.
Born April 6, 1936 in Pickens County, Mr. Wilson was the son of the late Virgil Wilson and Pearl Scott Wilson. He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Christopher John “C. J.” Wilson; one great-granddaughter, Josie Elizabeth Powell; four brothers, Lawrence, Virgil Jr., Grady and James Wilson; three sisters, Addie Waller, Flossie Hayes and Betty (Rhoda) Marks. He was a retired sales clerk and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Georgia Ann Horne Wilson of Tifton; one daughter, Jackie Elizabeth Wilson and partner Bradley Nash of Rogersville, Alabama; two sons and daughters-in-law, John Virgil and Lynn Wilson of Mobile, Alabama and Alan Wayne and Susan Wilson of Rincon; one sister and brother-in-law, Susie and Marvin Wells of Rochelle; three sisters-in-law, Jo (Lawrence) Wilson and Jean (Grady) Wilson, all of Tifton and Ruth (James) Wilson of Americus; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nephews and nieces.
