Roland J. Bastien 89, of Clinton St. died October 19, 2016 at Oakland Grove Health Care Center. He was the beloved husband of Jeanne (Boisvert) Bastien. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Octave and Marie Louise (Dupre) Bastien. Roland worked as a wool boiler for Hyman Brickle & Sons for thirteen years before retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Woonsocket Senior Citizens. Roland was an avid Red Sox fan, he also enjoyed playing cards, traveling and doing puzzles.
Besides his wife he leaves a daughter Beatrice Bastien of San Diego, CA; a step-daughter Carol Cournoyer of Woonsocket; three step-sons Albert Taillon of VA, Ronald Taillon of Woonsocket, and David Taillon of TX; a sister Beatrice Rajotte of Franklin, MA; in-laws Rene Auger, Lionel, Edgar, Robert, Paul, Albert, Donald, and Marc Boisvert, Adrienne Weseluk, and Doris Hudon; twelve grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin sister Jeanne Beauchemin.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 99 Cumberland St. Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Burial will be held in St Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Friday 4-7 PM.
