Obituary

Mrs. Shirley F. (Nelson) Brown, of Taunton, died Tuesday, October 18 in Marian Manor following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth C. Brown. She was born 86 years ago in North Dighton, the daughter of the late Arnold W. and Margaret (Greenhalgh) Nelson. She was educated in Taunton, having graduated from Taunton High School in 1948, and had been a lifelong area resident. Prior to her retirement, Shirley had been employed as an Accounts Payable Clerk for Texas Instruments in Attleboro for over 30 years. She was a member of the David F. Adams Post #611 Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, visiting Foxwoods, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley also enjoyed bowling with her husband, Ken, and her late brother and sister-in-law, David and Freda Brown. She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church in Taunton.

She leaves: 2 sons: Charles A. Brown and Gregory M. Brown, both of Taunton; 1 brother: Richard Nelson of Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren: Tiffany and Heather Brown; 2 great grandchildren: Landyn Lema, Kamrynn Reed and 1 more great granddaughter to be born in March, and several nieces and nephews. Shirley was also the sister of the late William, James, Robert and Thomas Nelson.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at The Riendeau-Mulvey Funeral Home, 467 Bay Street, on Wednesday, October 26 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow in the Mass. National Cemetery, Bourne. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Shirley’s family will receive visitors prior to the Service, Wednesday, from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M.
