M. Martha (Madore) Lavoie, 94 a former resident of Salem, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 17, 2016 at the Brudnick Center for Living in Peabody. She was the devoted wife of the late Pierre J. ‘Pete’ Lavoie.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Marie A. (Delande) Madore. A graduate of St. Chretienne Academy, during the war years she worked for General Electric in developing sound systems for Submarines. Martha had a varied career and over the years worked as a dental assistant, and did part time work for the former Fontaine’s Market in Salem. She retired from Parker Brothers in 1978 to care for her grandchildren.
Devoted to her family, Martha enjoyed cooking, music and flowers. Prior to her illness she was an active member of Ste. Anne Parish. Martha has been a resident of the Aviv / Brudnick Center for Living for the past five years. Her family would like to thank the staff of the Center for Living for their outstanding care and compassion given to Martha over the years.
She is survived by two sons, Gerard P. and his wife Lynn M. Lavoie of Salem, Paul A. and his wife Michelle of Waitsfield, VT, three grandsons, Brian and his wife Leanne Lavoie of Rowley, Brett Lavoie and his wife Alexa Mosley of Atlanta, GA and Jesse Lavoie of Vermont. She also leaves two great grandchildren Jordan and Lauren Lavoie of Rowley, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visiting hours on Monday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem to be followed by her Funeral Mass in Ste. Anne Church,290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
