Emma Elizabeth “Betty” Remley Baker, 80, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at his residence. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016, in the Memorial Chapel of Tifton’s First Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Roe officiating. Mrs. Baker will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, October 21, 2016, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Baker will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Johnny Johnson, Andy Saunders, Kent Golden and Dwayne Murphy will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Tifton Masonic Lodge, the Tifton Eastern Star and the Tifton Amaranth.
Born December 8, 1935 in Walterboro, South Carolina, Mrs. Baker was the daughter of the late George Joseph Remley, Sr. and Eunice Adenia Smoak Remley. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Russell Baker, Sr.; and a granddaughter, Jessica Marie Warren. She was retired from the Agrirama as a personnel manager and was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and Amaranth in Tifton. She was a loving wife.
Mrs. Baker is survived by one son, Russell Baker, Jr. of Tifton; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sandra Marie Blitchington and fiancé, Andy Saunders of Tifton and Elizabeth Baker Atchison and husband, Ron of Douglas; one brother, George Joseph Remley, Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; six grandchildren, Bonnie Elizabeth Blitchington Fields, Sheryl Ann Murphy, Katie Elizabeth Atchison, Jennifer Lynn Lewis, Crystal Ann Izzo and Russell Aubrey Baker, II; and eleven great-grandchildren.
