Bertha Mae Gentry, 95, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Tuesday, October 18, 2016, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Bethel Baptist Church in Ocilla, with the Rev. Tracy Clements officiating. Interment will follow in Irwinville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Friday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Gentry was born May 30, 1921, in Turner County, Georgia, to the late William “Billy” & Lizzie Harrell Nasworthy. She was a homemaker and a farm wife for most of her life. She worked a short time as a seamstress at H.R. Kaminsky & Sons. She loved attending church and having people visit in her home. She was a talented flower arranger as well. Mrs. Gentry was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Lowell & Susan Gentry of Irwin County; four grandchildren: Patrick Gentry, Jennifer & Joe Shepley, Amy & Hank Sumner, and Michael Wilson; six great-grandchildren: Anthony & Haley Drake, Tre Shepley, Valerie Drake, Chandler Harper, Jacob Shepley, and Cassie Wilson; a great-great-grandson, Cameron Drake; and two brothers: Emmett Nasworthy of Ashburn and Leroy Nasworthy of Commerce. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Gentry; a granddaughter, Tara Gentry, and several brothers and sisters.
