Dorothy M. Hardy, 94, of New Bedford passed away peacefully on Monday October 17, 2016 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Curtis and Dora (Boyer) Hardy, she lived in New Bedford all of her life. She was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School.
Dorothy was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in New Bedford, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and brought communion to the sick, elderly and homebound. She was awarded the Marian Medal from the Diocese of Fall River for her devoted service to her parish.
She was formerly employed by the Acushnet Company for over 50 years until her retirement.
Dorothy attended daily Mass and enjoyed going out with her coffee group afterwards. She enjoyed crafting. She also was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and loved spending time with and caring for her family members.
She is survived by ten nieces and nephews; and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Visiting hours will be Thursday, October 20, from 4-6 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 21, at 9:30 AM, at St. Mary’s Church in New Bedford. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.
