Obituary

WORCESTER-Alexander Polena Thomas, formerly of Cape Cod and Florida died Wed. Aug. 3. His wife, Mary (Rekas) Thomas predeceased him. He leaves his daughter, Nina Thomas of Haines City, FL and his brothers, Steven and Michael Thomas of Worcester and Christopher Thomas of Taunton. His brothers, James, Anthony and Peter Thomas and a sister, Helen Nauchy predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester son of Nicholas and Bessie (Tantsi) Thomas and moved to Harwich in 1977 before moving to Florida in 2000. Alexander was a 1939 graduate of Commerce High School and was a veteran of WW II where he served in the Philippines. Mr. Thomas owned Alexis Beauty Salon on Pearl Street in Worcester until 1969. Upon moving to Harwich he worked as a hairdresser and as a service clerk at the Purity Supreme.

The funeral service will be Friday, Aug. 12 at noontime in St. Mary’s Albanian Orthodox Church, 535 Salisbury St. Burial will be private. A calling period will be from 11:30 until the time of the service in the church.
