James E. O'Connor, Sr., 85 of Auburn, died Friday, October 14th in St. Mary Healthcare, with his family by his side. He leaves his wife of 66 years, Marilyn J. (Moore) O'Connor, his three children, Carol A. Zmayefski and her husband, Ronald, James E. O'Connor, Jr. and his wife Diane and Richard O'Connor and his wife, Charlene all of Auburn, seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was born in Quincy, the son of Arthur W. and Carrie J. (Mahood) O'Connor. Jim was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War. He had been employed as a foreman, for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Highway Department, retiring in 1996. Jim had been a member of North American Martyr's Church and had served as an on call firefighter for the Town of Auburn for many years.
