Dorothy E. (Stearns) Beaumont, 86, of New Bedford died October 15, 2016 at home after a brief illness.
Born in Columbia, TN, the daughter of the late Arthur and Goldie R. (Grindell) Stearns, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
She was a member of the First Unitarian Church in New Bedford.
Mrs. Beaumont was formerly employed as a social worker with the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission for many years until her retirement.
She enjoyed reading, politics and movies.
Survivors include her 3 children, Rick Beaumont of Fairhaven, John Beaumont of New Bedford and Beth Alvernaz of Fairhaven; a sister, Beryl Duffie of Seabring, FL; her former husband, Frederick Beaumont of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren, Erin Lopes, Andrew Beaumont, Thomas Beaumont and Samantha Beaumont; 4 great-grandchildren, Jason Lopes, Austin Lopes, Dante Lopes and Hannah Beaumont; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the companion of the late Benjamin Lackie and the sister of the late Arthur Stearns, Robert Stearns and Charles Stearns.
Her Funeral Services will be private.
