Shrewsbury/Sterling
Robert J. Gorczynski, 69, of Shrewsbury, formally of Sterling, passed away after a short
battle with cancer on October 14, 2016.
Bob was born in Worcester, the son of the late Hazel (Corbett) Gorczynski and George Gorczynski. He is survived by his two children, Caryn Gorczynski of Sterling and Kevin
Gorczynski of San Diego, CA; his granddaughter Olivia Brideau of Sterling; his siblings, David
Gorczynski and wife Halina of Worcester, Joan Gorczynski of Worcester, James Gorczynski and wife Rhaina of Sutton. He leaves a close cousin, Patricia Hebert and husband Mark of Upton; aunt Rosemary "Bunny" Borst and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bob graduated from Commerce High School in 1965, Worcester State University in 1969 and received his Master’s Degree in Education in 1977 from the same school. He touched many lives in his 33 years as a math teacher in Bourne and then in Sterling where he raised a family until retirement. Over the years, Bob enjoyed running the Sterling Recreation Department, coaching
basketball and track. He also helped part-time at his sister's tile shop, Tile Works, for over 30 years.
Bob lived life to the fullest. He did what he wanted when he wanted to. He loved traveling. His home away from home was San Diego where his son lives. He had frequent trips, made wonderful memories and close friends. He loved the ocean; living on Lake Quinsigamond he enjoyed kayaking and most every other sport throughout his years.
Death may indeed be final, but the love we share while living is eternal.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 22nd from 11am to 1pm at Callahan-Fay Funeral Home at 61 Myrtle Street in Worcester. A San Diego service with his ashes will also be announced.
