CHICOPEE – Henry R. “Hank” “Diddy” Beaudoin, 86, of the Willimansett Heights section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, October 15, 2016. He passed into Eternal Life at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family, his caregivers and his Comrades-at-Arms. He was born in Holyoke on March 26, 1930, a beloved son of the late William W. Beaudoin and Emma (Lapan) Beaudoin. He was raised in Holyoke, attended the former Precious Blood High School and graduated from the former Holyoke Trade High School. He furthered his education and graduated from the Electrical Institute of Illinois. He lived in the Chicopee area from 1951 until 1986 when he moved to Florida where he lived until moving back to Chicopee in 2005. Henry served his country in the Merchant Marines before enlisting during the Korean War in the United States Navy, attaining the rank of Fireman. Following his military service, he returned to the area and worked as a Master Electrician for over 36 years for the Holyoke Water and Power Company which later became Western Mass Electric Company and then Northeast Utilities. In addition, he owned and operated his own business, Henry R. Beaudoin Electrical Contractor. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, the Chicopee Lodge of Elks 1849, and the American Legion Post 266 in Granby. While living in Florida, he was a District Deputy and Grand Master Mason for the 28th District in Florida. He was also a member of the Past Masters Unit of the Melha Shrine and served with the clown unit and was known as “Flippy the Clown.” He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Most of all, he was a loving man who adored his family and showered them with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Olivette J. “Yvette” (Ringuette) Beaudoin. They were married on April 14, 1951 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 65 years of happiness together. Besides his beloved wife, he leaves his three loving children, Gail Y. Beaudoin, David H. Beaudoin and his wife, Mary, and Roy D. Beaudoin and his wife, Lynn, all of Chicopee; his six cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Beaudoin, Emily Beaudoin, Tara Lanzo and her husband, David, Miriah Sherokow and her husband, Ty, Sarah Beaudoin and Samantha Beaudoin; and his five cherished great-grandchildren, twins, Troy and Trent, Alexandra, Harper and Annabell. Hank will also be watching, from the Eternal City of Heaven, the birth of a great-grandchild in December. In addition, he leaves his dear brother-in-law, Domer Ringuette of Florida; his two dear sisters-in-law, Donna Collins and Claire Ringuette; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Beaudoin and Ringuette families. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his five dear brothers, William, Raymond, Rene, Ernest, and Norman Beaudoin; and his two dear sisters, Viola Livingstone and Evelyn Beaudoin. His funeral will be held on Thursday morning, October 20, 2016 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Following the Mass, United States Navy Military Honors will be conducted in the church as his burial will be private at a later date at the convenience of his family. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
