Ann (Delahunty) Foyle, 79 of East Hampstead, NH, went home to God on October 13, 2016 with her family at her side.
Ann was born in Thurles, County Tipperary, Ireland on February 6, 1937 the daughter of Patrick and Josephine Delahunty. She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 55 years, Colm, and her four loving children, Siobhan Foyle, Declan (Melanie) Foyle, Sinead Foyle, and Deirdre (David) Foyle-Lyder. Ann is also survived by her treasured grandchildren Katie (Andrew), Eamonn, Aidan, Kiernan, Ryan, Quin, and Ava and her only surviving sibling, Mary Heavey, of Dublin, Ireland along with countless loved nieces and nephews. Ann is predeceased by her parents, and her siblings; Josephine, Gerry, Patrick (Paud), Bridget (Biddy), Katherine (Kitty), Tim and John.
Ann grew up and attended schools in Thurles, County Tipperary Ireland. At 22 Ann came to the United States to become an au pair in Washington State. Continuing her calling as a caretaker, she then worked as a nurse’s aide in Tacoma, Washington. In 1959, her childhood friend and soon to become the love of her life, Colm, joined her in Washington. They were married in 1961, had their oldest daughter and then returned to Ireland, while working for General Electric Company. While in Ireland they had two more children, a son and a second daughter. They returned to the US, moving to upstate NY where their youngest daughter was born. After living in Syracuse, NY for seven years, the Foyle family returned to Ireland settling in Navan, County Meath. In 1982, Ann yet again made another trip across the Atlantic to Salem, NH where her family settled for 27 years. Ann and Colm set up their eighth and final home in East Hampstead, NH where they lived together for 11 years.
Ann was a pillar of St. Matthew’s Parish in Windham, NH. She loved her church and was a founding member of the Martha and Mary Group, a group which provided meals and support to families in mourning. She was also very involved with the Homebound Ministry. She spent many hours a week visiting those in their homes, bringing the Eucharist to them, praying and comforting them. Ann supported missionary work for the Columban Sisters of Ireland. Ann loved and cherished people. She loved to talk, help, and be there for them to just listen. Besides her God and her church, Ann adored her family, especially her grandchildren. Ann was also incredibly proud of her Irish heritage and took much pride in sharing her stories about life in Ireland. As an added plus for everyone around her, she had an accent that would melt your heart.
Ann’s calling hours will be held Thursday, October 20th from 4-7 PM at St. Matthew’s Church, 2 Searles Rd, Windham, NH. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, October 21st at 11 AM at St. Matthews. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Hampstead, NH.
