Lois L. (Schartner) Grala, 74, passed away on October 11, 2016. She is survived by her beloved partner Richard T. Chamberlain of 32 wonderful years and her sister Alice M. Lefebvre.
Lois was born in Clinton, MA to the late Henry J. Schartner and Lillian E. (White) Schartner. She was raised in Bolton, MA. Although an avid traveler, Bolton was always a special place to Lois as she made many gracious donations to the Conservation Trust of Bolton. Lois spent much of her youth helping her father run the Schartner Farm Stand which lead her to carry out her parent’s wishes of protecting the farm from development through the Agriculture Preservation in 2005.
Lois was a graduate of Hudson High School class of 1961. She received her degree in business and paralegal from Fisher College. She worked for 31 years at Digital/Quantum before retiring to travel across America. Lois was an adventure enthusiast and shares many memories of traveling and sailing with her beloved Richard. Together they traveled across America in their RV; seeing 49 states and living in Florida, Virginia, and New Hampshire.
Lois cherished spending time with her family and friends. She was very involved in the lives of her nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and grandchildren. Watching them grow through the years was one of her greatest joys. She will always be remembered for hosting countless family gatherings. Her compassion and love for life radiated to all those around her.
Lois was also an animal lover and contributed much of her time and money to the ASPCA. In lieu of flowers, Lois expressed wishes that donations be made to an ASPCA shelter of your choosing.
In accordance to the wishes of Lois, the family will gather to celebrate the life of Lois at a private service. Burial will be held in South Cemetery, Bolton.
