Obituary

Anthony M. Sylva, Jr. passed away at home on Wednesday October 12th at the age of 85. Born in Somerville, he was the son of the late Anthony and Georgina (Pacheco) Sylva. Raised in both Somerville and Cambridge, Anthony served in the Army during the Korean War. He attended Northeastern University and worked for many years with the US Postal Service. An accomplished musician, he played flute and piccolo. He enjoyed classical music and loved to listen to the Boston Symphony Orchestra. A Medford resident for over 40 years, Anthony enjoyed time at home with family and friends. His favorite pastime was sitting on his beautiful front porch overlooking the Mystic Lakes, reading and doing crossword puzzles.

The beloved husband of Ida (D’Angeli) Sylva, he was a devoted father to Donna Sylva and son-in-law Richard DiSessa of Medford, David Sylva and his wife Susan of Arlington, Doreen MacLeod and her husband Sterling of Lakeville. He leaves his loving grandchildren: Danielle DiSessa, Rachel Tracey and her husband Tom, Victor and Austin Sylva and Sterling MacLeod II. The brother of Ivan, John and Joseph Sylva, he is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Sunday October 16th from 1 to 5 PM concluding with remembrances.
