Obituary

Jeff Bryant, 66, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, October 13, 2016, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 4 PM, Sunday, October 16, 2016, at First Baptist Church of Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Mahan officiating. John Croley, Jr. will give the eulogy. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the sanctuary.

Mr. Bryant was born May 24, 1950, in Fitzgerald, Georgia, to the late Julian Lawrence & Burnell Lee Bryant. He was a 1969 graduate of Fitzgerald High School. Mr. Bryant was a self-employed contractor specializing in ceramic tile and painting. He served his country honorably in the National Guard, being stationed at Fort Jackson during the Vietnam War. Mr. Bryant was blessed with many friends that he enjoyed spending time with. Each day he made his rounds to the Airport, the Man Cave, Shell Rapid Lube, and Allen Etheridge’s. He was instrumental, along with Johnny Whidden, in getting the Shooting Range built on Joshlyn Road. He enjoyed shooting skeet and targets as well as taking pictures. Locals will remember Jeff for being the first in the area to learn to ride a unicycle. He also was an avid bass fisherman and spent many hours with his friend, the late Harry Mitchell fishing. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald.

He is survived by his daughter, Segrid Bryant Dennard of Fitzgerald; a granddaughter and the apple of his eye, Nellee Rose Dennard of Fitzgerald, two brothers: Dickie & Margie Bryant and Ray & Wilene Bryant; a sister, Jane Ellen & Ronnie Phillips, and an aunt: Sue McGee, all of Fitzgerald as well as several nieces and nephews.
