Obituary

Albert Hugh Campbell II, 55 of Louisville, KY peacefully transitioned into God’s hands on Sunday, October 9, 2016 after a 9 year battle with male breast cancer. Born on January 5, 1961 he was surrounded by his family and friends at his side.
Hugh worked for Green Haven Tree Care prior to becoming ill. Hugh will be remembered for his valiant efforts to bring awareness to male breast cancer. He supported many causes in Louisville and was a face in the community for his mission.
Hugh is survived by his loving wife Kim (Langolf), beloved daughters Emily Dawn (Anthony) Luckett and Megan (Joe) Brown and the apple of his eye, his grandson Clayton Bradley Brown all of Louisville and son Thomas Campbell of Orlando, FL. Also surviving him are his father and mother, A. Hugh and Edna Campbell, brother Troy Campbell of Louisville, sister, Tonya (Brian) Coleman of Clermont, FL, several nieces and nephews and many beloved family members and friends. Hugh was a beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to so many.
Hugh was eager to attend any breast cancer function and spread his message about the importance of male breast cancer awareness. You could see Hugh walking the track at Churchill Downs for the Oak’s Day Survivor’s Parade, participating in numerous walks for the cause, speaking at functions regarding awareness, attending luncheons and dinners, doing interviews and sharing his story with anyone who would listen. His large circle of supporters were with him every step of the way. Hugh was a beacon of light for anyone who needed words of encouragement, always flashing his megawatt smile. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Renato LaRocca who cared for Hugh during his entire journey. A special thanks to the nurses and staff Norton Suburban Hospital 5 East. Also to the many doctors, nurses and staff at Norton’s Healthcare who were always there to care for Hugh any way they could.
Thanks go out to his many family and friends who were always by his side, supporting him, Kim and the girls as much as possible. All of the calls, visits, texts, e-mails, and other things done for Hugh and the family was deeply appreciated.
Services will be at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY.
Visitation will be Monday, October 17th from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, October 18th from 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 18th at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation to the funeral home to assist with arrangement costs.
