In Taunton, October 10, 2016 William A. “Red” Greenough Sr. Passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 83. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Sheila (Washburn) Greenough. Red was born in Taunton, the son of the late Malcolm & Sadie (Cowan) Greenough. Red was employed for the City of Taunton for thirty years until his retirement at the age of 80. He was a member of the Army National Guard for thirty years and was the first guardsmen to marry another guardswomen in MA while serving together. He was a member of Taunton Elks #150, the P.A.C.C. and the Italian Club. Red is survived by his son Richard Greenough of San Pedro, CA and his daughter Paulette Greenough of Houston, TX. and his late son William A. Greenough Jr. His Godchildren Eric Hector of Claremont, NH, Kim Phillips of Freeport, ME, amd Megan Cote of Berlin, NH. He also leaves many nieces and nephews, longtime friends and sister in law Suzanne Washburn of Taunton. Red’s many friends include special ones , Donny Paquette, Dennis Costa and Jackie Lawrence and all the ladies at the street department. People on Pine St. were family to him and will miss him dearly. Funeral home visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 2-4 pm. in the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington St., Taunton, Ma 02780. A graveside service will be held on Sunday at 11 am. in the Colebrook Village Cemetery on Route #3 in Colebrook, NH. Donations may be made in William’s memory to the American Heart Association, P.O.
