Obituary

Virginia Jennie (Fedirka) Blasko of Medford died on Saturday, October 8, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford. First generation Ukrainian, she was raised and educated in Mattapan. She was the daughter of the late Stanley and Anna (Dacko) Fedirka.

Jennie was the first female baseball commissioner of North Medford Little League, for which she received the Key to the City by former Mayor McGlynn. She was also active in the Mystic Players as a performer and costumer, and active in the Graham Crackers Bowling League and Medford Senior Center Holiday Singers.

Jennie was the beloved wife of the late Walter Blasko and the devoted mother of Walter J. Blasko and his wife Karen of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Paula A. Blasko, and Dr. Donna L. Blasko, both of Medford. She was the sister of Shirley Balmer of Greer, South Carolina, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 18 from 11 through 1PM in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in Jennie's name to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Ave., Salem, MA 01970.
