Roger J. Lonchay 91, of Lydia Ave. died October 11, 2016 at The Holiday. He was the beloved husband of Rita (Belliveau) Lonchay. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Ernest and Bertha (Verfaille) Lonchay. Roger was a WWII US Navy Veteran. He was a textile worker for many years and had worked for the former Hanora Lippitt Mills and Woonsocket Sponging.
Besides his wife he leaves two sons Marc E. Lonchay and his wife Jacqueline of Cumberland, Jacques A. Lonchay and Annette Leffland of Woonsocket, a daughter Michelle M. Bastien and her husband Gerry of Woonsocket, nine grandchildren, Melissa Martin, Kelly, Dane, Brandon, and Alyssa Lonchay, Melanie Cousineau, Brian Bastien, Morgan Hurley, and Meghan Kogut, and seven great-grandchildren, Hayli, Brianna, Emma, Kamden, Olive, Frida and Braelyn. He was also the father of the late Micheline H. Cousineau, and brother of the late Helene Viotto.
His funeral will be held Friday at 9:00 AM from the Fournier & Fournier Funeral Home, 463 South Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Agatha’s Church, Joffre Ave. Woonsocket. Burial and Military Honors will be held at St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery in Bellingham. Visiting hours are Thursday 4-7 PM.
