Obituary

Heather 'Feather' Alexander, daughter of Elizabeth Alexander, and the late Victor Alexander both of Provincetown, died suddenly Saturday, October 8, 2016 of an acute asthma attack. She was 54.

Heather was born and raised in Provincetown, a native child, and one of our own. She was a Provincetown original. She had a lifelong relationship with the Provincetown fishing community, and loved going clamming, and spending time in the woods with her father. She attended Provincetown High School where she played basketball and received a certificate for special recognition in Art at graduation.

Heather dealt with a lifetime of health issues and disabilities, but found the time to become a Certified Nursing Assistant so that she could work with people less fortunate than she. She lived her life as a model to others, and never let her disabilities stand in the way of living life to the fullest. She reminded one of the words of D.H. Lawrence, “I never saw a bird or a wild thing that felt sorry for itself.”

Heather had a wonderful sense of humor, a contagious laugh, loved to dance, and was a true and loyal friend to many. She was forthright, open minded and non-judgmental, and never afraid to express her opinion followed by her signature words, “KISS, KISS.” As one of her lifelong friends commented, “Her laugh was the sound of her soul saying enjoy life.”

In addition to her mother Elizabeth Alexander, she leaves her fiancée Michael Gregory, her Aunt Sara Muir, and cousins Lorraine, James, John, and Gary Muir of Scotland. She also leaves cousins Jane, Warren, Shirley, Glenn and Brian Alexander, of Provincetown as well as Danny, Jeff and Gregg Notaro also of Provincetown. She also will miss her beloved parrot, Aurelio.

Burial will be private. A Memorial Service will be held at Ciro & Sal’s Restaurant, Kiley Court, Provincetown on Sunday, October 23rd from 1- 4 pm.

If desired, memorial donations in Heather’s name may be sent to the Provincetown Rescue Squad, PO Box 109, Provincetown, MA 02657 or the Carrie A. Seaman Animal Shelter, PO Box 1374., Provincetown, MA 02657.
