Mrs. Alice C. (Linehan) White, beloved wife of the late Shelson Archibald White, passed away at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center in Worcester on Sunday morning, October 9, 2016. She was 99 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on August 2, 1917, she was the beloved daughter of the late John J. and Mary M. (Kelsch) Linehan. Alice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. Before retiring to the Cape with “Whitey” her husband of nearly 60 years, she loved her work at the Boston Convention Bureau and was an active parishioner at Our Lady of the Presentation Parish in Brighton. She loved time spent with family and, with Whitey, enjoyed traveling, especially with the Flying Tigers and the MBTA Pensioners Club. She will be dearly missed.
Alice is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law; Marilyn A. and her husband William E. Gillis of Moultonborough, New Hampshire; grandchildren: William E. Gillis, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Goffstown, New Hampshire., Stephen J. Gillis and his wife Kristin of Georgetown, Massachusetts, and Jeffrey P. Gillis and his wife Kathryn of Oxford, Massachusetts; great-grandchildren: Kelsey, Alexa, Corey and Matthew Gillis and Dakota Mulcay; nieces and nephew: Sr. Mary M. Farren, SNDdeN of Lawrence, Lorraine and her husband James Williamson of Natick, John J. Linehan of Potomac, Maryland, Ann Linehan of Falls Church, Virginia, and Jean and her husband William Leavitt of Stoneham, and many grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by siblings George and John Linehan, Corinne Ferola, and Mary Farren.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggetts Pond Road, Andover on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Noon. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visitation will be held prior to the mass, in the church, from 11 to Noon. A luncheon will follow in the parish hall. Interment will be held the following day at 1:30 PM in the VA National Cemetery in Bourne.
