Chester Raduszewski
Martinez, GA – Mr. Chester P. Raduszewski, retired Sergeant First Class (SFC) and retired Veterans Administration nurse died Sunday, October 9, 2016 at his home. Mr. Raduszewski was 78. He was a devoted father and grandfather.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 13th at 1:00 P.M. at Bellevue Memorial Gardens with Pastor Rich Bowen officiating. Full military honors and Masonic honors will be accorded.
Mr. Raduszewski, a native of North Tonawanda, N.Y., joined the U.S. Army in 1956. He served 14 of his 20 year Army career overseas in Japan, Korea, Germany, and Vietnam, and retired from the U.S. Army Military Police School at Fort Gordon, GA, where he was an MP instructor and Curriculum NCO, with the Dept. of Education and Training Division. He has served with the 728th MP BN., 709th MP BN., 793rd MP BN., 30th MP BN. (Riot Control) and 25th MP Co., CU-CHI Base Camp 25th Inf. Div.-Vietnam.
Mr. Raduszewski earned the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces in Vietnam; United States of America Meritorious Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal, among other awards.
Mr. Raduszewski went on to become a nurse and was employed at the Augusta Veterans Administration Hospital, downtown, and served 3 years with the VA Police and 17 years with the Emergency Dept. Life Support Unit.
Mr. Raduszewski, after retiring from the VA served 4 years with the Federal Court House, Augusta as a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal, Court Security.
Mr. Raduszewski was a Master-Mason with Martinez Lodge 710 F & A.M.; a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry-32nd Degree, a member of Savannah Alee Shriners Valley of Augusta; and Augusta Shrine Club.
He was a member of the American Legion, Post 192, Evans, GA; a member of the Elks, USA, Lodge 205 B.P.O.E.; Augusta, GA.
Mr. Raduszewski loved construction, crafts, landscaping, and handyman projects, cooking, and was a USA Dance amateur ballroom dancer.
Survivors include his wife: Hee-Na K. Raduszewski; son: Thomas Raduszewski and wife Jessie; daughter: Caroline Zeller-Blakey; step-son: Wayne Huffman and wife Faith; grandson: Craig Blakey; sisters: Alice Albanese, Joan Nyers; and brother: Richard Raduszewski and wife Kyong.
