STONINGTON: Melanie (Mel) Kimak Carroll, 58, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016 in her home on Back Acres Way in Stonington, CT surrounded by her loving pets and husband. Born March 14, 1958, in Elizabeth, NJ, Melanie was the daughter of the Late Mikhail and Helen (Varga) Kimak. She was raised in Mountainside, NJ and is a graduate of Jonathan Dayton Regional High School in Springfield, NJ (1976).
Melanie graduated from Lehigh University in 1980 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. She met her husband, Kevin Carroll, at Lehigh the winter of 1979, who graduated the following year with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Melanie and Kevin were married on April 24, 1982 in Dunellen, NJ.
In 1980, Mel began a very successful career at Pfizer in Groton, CT, which led her to traveling to Pfizer plants in England, Ireland, and Puerto Rico; Melanie retired in 2008.
Melanie’s passion was traveling with her husband Kevin to countless destinations across the US and abroad. Mel and Kevin made regular trips to Maui, in Hawaii, which became their favorite vacation destination. Mel was loved by all and was full of life, hosting countless parties at her home.
In addition to her husband, Kevin, Melanie is survived by her brothers Mark Kimak of Bronxville, NY, and Geoffrey Kimak of Stirling, NJ and his wife Jean; sister-in-law, Maureen Carroll, of Piscataway, NJ; nieces Jennifer, Jessica and Emily, and nephew, William.
Kevin will greet relatives and friends on Thursday evening, October 13, from 4:30 to 7:30pm at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic.
