Atherton, of Halifax, MA formerly of Brockton, August 7, 2005 Annie M. Atherton, 65 years. Mother of Jeffry Atherton of FL; and sister of Frederick S. Atherton, Jr. and his wife Gail of Debary, FL and Joan Pelley of MA. Annie is survived by her many friends and the patients and staff of Colony House Nursing Home, Abington. She also leaves Kelly McAndrews of Halifax whom she loved as a daughter and Kelly’s son Ryan who she loved as a grandson.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday 3-5pm, with a Celebration of Annie’s Life at 5pm. Obituary

Annie M. Atherton 65 years of Halifax formerly of Brockton died peacefully Sunday at the Brockton Hospital after a long and valiant struggle with a lengthy illness. She was born and raised in Lynn, daughter of the late Frederick S. and Margaret A. (Hogan) Atherton. For the past eight years she had resided in Halifax and previously lived for many years in Brockton. In 1993 she graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Massasoit Community College with an Associates of Science Degree.

Annie dedicated most of her life to the care of elderly patients in nursing homes. She was a devoted and beloved staff member of Colony House Nursing Home in Abington until her retirement in 2000. After her retirement she continued to volunteer at the nursing home until July 2005. She loved life and lived every moment to the fullest. She is well known for her love of cats, and caring for her cats Frisky, TJ, Spunky, Mork and Mindy. Throughout her lifetime she adopted many stray cats. She was also an avid sports fan, who loved Michel Jordan when he played for the Chicago Bulls, and the New England Patriots and their star player Tom Brady.
