John J. Harrison (Ret. B.F.D.), age 65, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016. Previously a Dorchester resident, he had lived in Weymouth for many years. Mr. Harrison served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Prior to his retirement, he had been decorated by the Boston Fire Department for his service. The beloved son of the late John “Red” & Ellen Harrison, he is survived by his devoted children; Amy Gianakis & her husband Larry of Leominster, Jill Thomas & her husband Mark, John Timothy Harrison & his wife Kathleen, all of Canton, Sean Harrison & his wife Allison of Weymouth, and Brian Harrison, also of Weymouth. He was also the loving father of the late baby Cara, cherished grandfather of Emily, Olivia, Liam, Aryssa, Samantha, Taylor, Savannah, Max, Cole and Avery, former husband & dear friend of both Deborah Harrison and Karen Harrison, dear uncle of Sean, Patrick, Meghan and Samantha and loving brother of Karen Harrison, Sheila Connolly, Christopher Harrison and the late Michael Harrison. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agatha Church, Milton, Thursday morning at 10 am. Visiting hours at the Alfred D. Thomas Funeral Home, 326 Granite Ave., Milton, Wednesday, 4 to 8 PM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree, MA.
