Obituary

Karen Lynn Bongers, 50, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, October 9, 2016, at Coliseum Medical Center, in Macon, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Ronald Parks officiating. Interment will follow in Big Creek Cemetery, in Irwin County. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home.

Ms. Bongers was born May 16, 1966, in Ocilla, Georgia, to Lavada Mathis Hogan of Fitzgerald and the late Robert Hogan. She lived in the community all of her life and graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1984. She worked for Shaw Industries in quality control and shipping. Ms. Bongers loved to dance, listen to music, watch TV and being outdoors. She had a passion for horses and Indians, whether it was collecting them or watching movies about them. Ms. Bongers was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her children: Kimberly B. Wynn & husband Matthew of Maplesville, Alabama, Kyle J. Bongers of Alabaster, Alabama and Karl H. Bongers, II of Alabaster, Alabama; a granddaughter: Adreanna Bongers of Maplesville, Alabama; brothers: Lacy Hogan and wife Bobbie of Fitzgerald and Wayne Hogan and wife Donna of Cordele. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
