Obituary

Willis Osie Nash, 86, of Irwin County, Georgia, died Saturday, October 8, 2016, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Pinetta Baptist Church in Irwin County with the Rev. Dr. Danny Ray officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinetta Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Mr. Nash was born December 25, 1929, in Irwin County, Georgia, to the late Osie Emmett & Frances Johnson Nash. He was a graduate of Alapaha High School. Mr. Nash worked for the Bank of Alapaha for 33 years, beginning his career as a teller and retiring as Chief Executive officer. He was a longtime farmer as well as an inventor of various farm tools. He also worked at Wal-Mart in Tifton in the sporting goods department. He loved to bird hunt both dove and quail. Mr. Nash was a member of Irwin County Young Farmers and the Irwin County Tax Assessors Board. He was an active member of Pinetta Baptist Church having served as a deacon, treasurer, and Sunday school superintendent.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha Parrish Nash of Irwin County; a daughter, Sharon Howell of Irwin County; two grandchildren: Natasha & Chad Whitley of Berrien County and Dean Howell of Irwin County; five great-grandchildren: Savannah Howell, Nash Howell, Jones Howell, Kaylee Whitley, and Kason Whitley; two sisters: Farris Hargett of Macon and Jean Nugent of Alapaha; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Emmett Nash.
