Obituary

Joseph P. Stanley, Sr., 82, formerly of Oakhurst Drive, Greenville, died peacefully in his sleep, Thursday, October 6, 2016 at his son, Kenny’s home. He was the husband of the late Barbara M. (Carcieri) Stanley.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph T. and Mary (Drazel) Stanley. He had lived in Smithfield for 53 years before moving to Chepachet.

Mr. Stanley was a pattern maker for Hasbro in Pawtucket before retiring, where he worked on the model space craft for the second Star Wars trilogy and various Mattel childrens’ toys. He served in the Air National Guard achieving the rank of Sargent. He was an avid golfer (with a several hole-in-ones to his credit), and a member of The Glocester Country Club. An accomplished musician, Joe played with the Three Crowns, performing thousands of times in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut during his three decade long musical career, frequently on live radio broadcasts. He was also a regular visitor to Twin Rivers.

He is survived by his sons: Joseph P. Stanley, Jr. and his wife, Susan of Foxboro, MA, Kenneth J. Stanley and his wife, Doreen of Chepachet , Michael D. Stanley and his wife, Cindy of Greenville, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a sister, Frances Calomar of Coventry. He was the brother of the late Joan Raimondo and companion to Marlene Cotoia of Cranston.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30am am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation Tuesday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Hope Hospice and Palliative Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
