Joanne M. (Libby) Coleman, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Thursday, October 6, 2016. She was 56 years old.
Joanne was born in Boston on December 18, 1959, a daughter of Patricia A. (Reardon) McGrath and William McGrath. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated in the Boston Public School system and graduated from Charlestown High School in 1977. Joanne worked for the City of Boston for 15 years and during that time was a Director for Rehabilitation for 12 years at the Long Island Shelter for Woman which she was associated with Volunteers of America. Joanne took great pride whenever she was able to support and encourage people with addiction.
Joanne is the beloved wife of 36 years to Stephen B. Coleman. She is the devoted mother of the late Shaina M. Coleman. She is the loving Nana Mama to Riley, Reardon, Edinson and Stephen. She is the beloved daughter of William "Matches" McGrath and the late Patricia A. (Reardon) McGrath. She is the beloved sister of Paula Tirro, Thomas McGrath, Shawna McGrath and the late Patricia McNeil and Charles Libby. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joanne's visiting hours on Monday, October 10, 2016 from 4 to 8 P.M. with her Funeral Service at 7:30 P.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be private.
