Obituary

Francisca “ Pachita” Cortez Sandoval, 102, of Ventura passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016.
Pachita was born in Sayula, Mexico to Cenebio and Aurelia Nunez Cortez on October 4, 1914. She married Jesus Garcia Sandoval and later came to the United States in 1944 and worked the Lemon Packing house for over 20 years. She lived with her family in Tortilla Flats and became a member of the Mission San Buenaventura Guadalupanas for years. She loved to pray for her family to the Virgin of Guadalupe very much. She later moved with her family, when the built the freeway over Tortilla Flats near the Ventura Fairgrounds. She loved to have family, friends and her compadres over for all occasions. You can say she was a socialite of her time. To those who knew her, they will have many stories and memories of her.
Pachita preceded in death of her husband Jesus Garcia Sandoval, daughter Conchita, and her sister Hilaria Cortez.
She survived by her sons Antonio (Carmen), Jesus “Jess” (Rachel) and George (Peggy).
Grandchildren Vivien, Veronica (George) Guerrero, Sonia (Jeff) Edinger, Monica (Chris) Morris, Nicole, Nick (Rebecca) and Philip. Great grandchildren Diego, Dominick, Elizabeth, Jackson, Isliana, Wyatt, Olivia, Xavier and Mateo.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 13, 2016 with rosary and mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Church 3175 Telegraph Rd. Ventura with a burial to follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
Arrangements are under the direction of Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 757 E. Main Street, Ventura.
