SCARBOROUGH- Richard Luman Wallace, age 83, passed away on October 6, 2016 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
He was born in Madison, Maine on Oct. 30, 1932, a child of the late Hayden and Doris Wallace.
He graduated from Madison schools and went on to proudly serve in the US Navy.
Over the years, Richard worked for companies such as Bailey Oil Company and worked for 17 years at Madison Paper where he worked in positions such as a forklift operator.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing in the past along with golfing. He really enjoyed coaching Little League and always had a championship team.
Richard was a lifelong Catholic and was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Madison.
He will always be remembered as a familyman and for his famous Maine sayings – he certainly was “tougher than a boiled owl”
He is predeceased by a daughter- Wendy Liberty in 2013; and all of his five siblings.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife- Jeannette (MacDonald) of Scarborough; his children- Stacie Flynn and her husband Kevin of Scarborough and Scott Wallace and his wife Stephanie of Fairfield; grandchildren- Averey Flynn, Natalie Stopyra and her husband Peter, Sierra Boardman, David Wallace and his wife Desiree; and a great grandson- Pheonyx Stopyra.
A service will be held on Monday Oct. 17 at 12 noon at the Maine Veterans Cemetery Committal Shelter, Civic Center Dr., in Augusta with US Navy Honors.
