Moira Ann (Pauley) Holmes, 60 years, lifelong of Brockton, died on October 5, 2016 at her home after a 22 year hard fought battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Richard Scott Holmes, and a daughter of George and Rosemary (Lyons) Pauley. Moira was a graduate of Brockton High School, Class of 1974. For 20 years, Moira had been a teacher in the Brockton Public School System, and taught at the Whitman and George Schools until her retirement in 2014. Moira lived to teach and knew her life passion since she was 12. She was a warm, generous, strong, giving and caring person. She was also known to be a Disney fanatic.
Moira was the mother of Shannon Holmes Terry and her husband Christopher of Springfield, VA, Heather Rodriguez and her husband Victor of Norton, and the late Amanda Holmes. She was the sister of Michael Pauley of Brockton, Sheila Buckley of Abington, Rosemary Spencer, Bill Pauley, and Elizabeth “Tish” Mency all of Brockton; grandmother of Akye Johnson, Anthony, Ethan and Gabriella Rodriguez, Jacob Lavoie and expected grandchild Edward Southwick. She is also survived by Jennifer Foster Southwick of England, Mary Jo “MJ” Lavoie of Taunton, and Julie LaRose of Springfiled, VA, whom Moira thought of as her “own daughters”, and many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Sunday October 9, from 2-7pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 10:30am. Burial will be held at a later date in Holy Family Cemetery, Rockland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Moira’s name to Dr. Jerry Younger, Mass General Hospital Breast Cancer Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, 55 Fruit Street, Yawkey 9A, Boston, MA 02114.
