Obituary

Philip A. Macdonald of Reading passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at the Sawtelle Hospice House in Reading in his 80th year.

Born in Somerville, Philip was the son of the late Alexander Macdonald and Agnes M. (Farrell) Macdonald. Philip was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be missed by all.

Philip was a dedicated Telephone Engineer for New England Telephone Company for many years. He was devoted to his family. They were first and foremost in his life. During World War II, Philip defended our freedom by serving in the United States Army.

Philip was the beloved husband for 50 years to Therese M. (Donovan) Macdonald. He was the devoted father of Peter Macdonald and his wife Pamela of Bedford, New Hampshire, Christine McEleney and her husband John, Maria Arthur and her husband Charlie, and Ted Macdonald, all of Reading. Philip was the cherished grandfather of C.J., Alex and Victoria Arthur, Cameron, Olivia, and Sophia Macdonald and Patrick McEleney. He was the dear brother of Agnes Springer and the late Paul Macdonald.

Funeral from the Joseph Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home 11 Linden St. READING Wednesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass celebrating Philip’s life in St. Patrick’s Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Visiting Hours Tuesday 4-8pm. Parking is available in the municipal parking lot located behind Atlantic Supermarket on Haven St. Interment at 1:15pm in the VA National Cemetery, in Bourne.
