Marie F. (Alfano) Ferreira died Sept. 30, 2016. She was the daughter of Frank and Nancy Alfano and lived in Worcester all her life. She was formerly married to WWII Army Air Force bombardier Henry A. Witko who died Dec. 26, 1970. She is survived by her husband Bart Ferreira.
Marie attended the Worcester public schools, was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, and State Teachers College where she received a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and a Certificate in Remedial Reading. Marie taught grades two, three, and four for 37 years. She attended water color classes at the Worcester Art Museum and received a certificate in Speedwriting and Typing from the Salter Secretarial School. She worked for a brief period of time in the craft classes of the Worcester Girls Club and nursing office at Saint Vincent Hospital. Marie enjoyed ballroom and square dancing.
Funeral services will be held at St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury on Friday, Oct. 7. A calling hour will be held at 10:30am in the church prior to the Mass at 11:30am. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street is directing arrangements.
