Edward Babbitt Kerr, 82, of Tifton passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016, in Valrico, Florida. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. John Thomas officiating. Mr. Kerr will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Sheppard officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 6, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
The men of Tifton’s First Assembly of God will serve as pallbearers.
Born March 6, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, Mr. Kerr was the son of the late John Emerson Kerr and Margaret Babbitt Kerr Harville. He was also preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne Bishop Kerr, who died August 14, 2016; his step-father, Patrick Harville; a daughter, Sarah Lynn Robinson Burton; a brother, Robert Kerr; and two sisters, Gretchen Ryles and Cynthia Rose Larinan. He was a retired funeral director and member of Tifton’s First Assembly of God. He was also a member of Gideons International and an ordained lay minister and a care-giver for the last ten years.
Mr. Kerr is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, Joseph C. and Diane Kerr of Ohio, Jonathan E. Kerr of Pace, Florida and Maury D. and Margaret Kerr of Valrico, Florida, Derek and Debbie Robinson of Tifton, David and Gwen Robinson of Omega,; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sherrie and Richie Goodman of Kansas City, Missouri and Wanda Robinson of Tifton; a brother, Jonathan Emerson Kerr of Citronelle, Alabama; a sister, Janice Augustine of Charlotte, North Carolina; 23 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
