WESTPORT - Gilbert Alves, 72, Westport, died Friday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Husband of Lorraine (Souza) Alves. Besides his wife of Westport, he is survived by One Son: Michael A. Alves of Bristol, RI, One Brother Daniel Alves of Fall River, MA, One Sister: Judith Oliveira of Duxbury, MA, and Several nieces and nephews.
Born in Fall River, MA, the son of the late Gabriel O. Alves and the late Mary (Mendes) Alves. He was a Westport resident since 1966, previously residing in Fall River. Before retiring, he worked at American Builtrite in Stoughton as an Extruder Operator. Later he was a Custodian at Our Lady of Grace, and he worked at American Auto Auction as a Driver. He was a member of the Fall River Bowling Green and a member of the Couples Club of Our Lady of Grace. He loved Traveling and was an avid Patriots and Red Sox Fan. He was also a member of Our Lady of Grace Church.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St. on Monday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Grace Church, Sanford Rd., Westport at 10:00 A.M. Internment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Main Rd. Westport. Calling hours are Sunday 4-8 P.M.
